Fast Facts
In 2023 over 73% of matriculants reported a year or more spent between graduating from college and applying.
It is normal, even encouraged, for applicants to take their time.

In the 2024-2025 application cycle, over 25% of all applicants were re-applicants.
In the words of a senior physician mentor–
"It is nothing like when I was applying and it wasn't easy back then either.
I'm not surprised that people try again and again, but I couldn't have afforded it."

Even at the very top, numbers aren’t enough:
between 2022–2025, over 16% of applicants with GPAs above 3.79 and MCATs above 517 were rejected. There is no such thing as "perfect numbers."
Note that these numbers, MCAT especially, are above the average of first-year medical students. Schools reject applicants every cycle that are "more qualified by numbers" than they are actually training in clinics and classrooms. What does this mean?
Clinical experience, timing, and professional narrative are decisive for each and every applicant.

Our team uses publicly available historic AAMC data, as well as program-specific data, to help you make informed decisions. We believe that no two clients are the same. This is your strength.
If your circumstances lie outside of the GPA and MCAT trends above, we are happy to discuss your journey’s next steps with you.
Remember that many applicants with a “perfect” GPA and MCAT get rejected. Just like how patients are more than their vital signs, you are more than your numbers. Working with a team to craft your narrative and navigate the structure and timing of the application cycle is essential, regardless of your GPA and MCAT scores.
